Watch Tyrese’s New Powerful Visual ‘Legendary/8:46’ feat. CeeLo

Six-time GRAMMY Nominated singer, songwriter and actor Tyrese is back with new music.

The song addresses racial violence and police brutality and the need to continue to fight for justice and equality for all.

Tyrese Gibson’s new single “Legendary” via Voltron Records, his first music in five years is an emotionally raw, “artist’s response” to the death of Black Americans at the hands of police officers. The accompanying music video directed by Deon Taylor is titled “8:46.” Tyrese states, “The power of cinema is that it can shift worlds, shift paradigms.”

The soul-stirring video titled “8:46” makes its programmatic debut today (August 28) during BET‘s exclusive broadcast of the “Get Your Knee Off My Neck” March commemorating the 57th Anniversary of the March On Washington.

The single starts, with a near two-minute powerful vocal from Tyrese. Followed by CeeLo Gree on the hook and then Black Ty spits some bars that definitely sting! A black man anthem, of sorts. The visual is amazing!

Eight minutes, 46 seconds is how long George Floyd was pinned to the ground, gasping for air, whilst a white police officer’s knee pressed hard against his neck.

BLM protest footage and dramatic re-enactments of prominent instances of police brutality against Black people in America, this video leaves no room for uncertainty. In the final sequence, we are offered an alternate ending to the too common narrative – and a moment to catch our breath as well as our collective consciousness.

“Legendary” arrives just ahead of a wave of new music to include the single “Black Excellence” featuring Rick Ross in October, and a new Tyrese album later this year.
